I’ve been in the beauty industry 18 years, and for the last 12 I’ve owned Allure Lash and Beauty Bar, a multi-award-winning 7-figure lash and brow salon in regional Australia.
When I first started my beauty business, I never imagined I’d go from working all by my lonesome in my spare room to running my very own luxury team-led salon.
But here we are!
It hasn’t all been glitz and glamour, though...
Just a few years ago, I was in the same place you are today
I was doing 40+ hours a week on clients, and then everything it takes to actually run a business landed on top of that. Admin, marketing, cleaning, ordering, ALL THE THINGS.
I was too scared to reduce my client hours to work ON my business, because I thought nobody could look after my clients as well as I did.
(Spoiler alert: they can. Once I got the right prices, systems and team in place, everything changed!)
And my whole life revolved around work, work, work, because if I wasn’t in my salon all day, every day ― my business would grind to a complete halt.
I was on the verge of burnout. That’s when I realised I’d created a monster 😱
The business I’d started to give me freedom was sucking up all my time, attention, and energy.
I had no idea how to grow or sell the business because it wasn’t worth much money if I wasn’t there looking after clients.
And I just knew I couldn’t keep going AND live a happy and fulfilled life
So I put all my efforts into turning everything around!
I worked on resetting my mindset and refining my marketing.
I developed proper policies and procedures, learned to stop micromanaging, and start trusting my team.
I paid closer attention to the numbers in my business, tracked where my money was going, and invested in business education.
And eventually I went from full time on the tools to just one client day a week!

My salon made more money when I dropped to one client day a week than it ever did when I was on the tools full time.
Seriously. I was doing at least 170 client hours a month, and the salon was turning over $55K a month.
I cut back to 36 client hours a month, one single day a week, and the salon went to $85K a month.
Not long after that, we hit our first MILLION DOLLAR YEAR, and I was working less in the business than I ever had before!
Today, my salon pays me a 6-figure wage each year.
I have a team of 7 incredible people who are exceptional at what they do, including a full-time manager.
My job is leading them, not carrying everything alone.
These days I only work on clients one day a fortnight, and only because I want to.
And the rest of the time, I have the FREEDOM and flexibility to:
